The final weekend of the first Regional Championship cycle of 2025 included three different events in Mexico City, Santiago, and Bangkok. The Central America Magic Series, South America Magic Series, and MTG SEA Championship Final awarded a total of fourteen invites to the Pro Tour and three invites to the World Championship.

Over 400 players from around the world flocked to their respective regional events to play Modern. It was the culmination of months of qualifying events, and in the end, they crowned three different Regional Champions.

Congratulations to Quinton Lip Zhao Jian, Winner of the MTG SEA Championship Final!

In Bangkok, Quinton Lip Zhao Jian took home the trophy, and the title of Southeast Asia Regional Champion, piloting Dimir Midrange.

Jian defeated Tan Wei Siong's Orzhov Aggro deck in the finals. It was a pair of unusual decks in a Modern metagame that has been dominated by different flavors of Grinding Breach in recent weeks. Jian's deck made the most of Psychic Frog, while Siong's was built around Ketramose, the New Dawn, a card from recently released Aetherdrift.

Congratulations to the rest of the Top 8 at the MTG SEA Championship Final as well, who earned invites to the Pro Tour! Among them was Kelvin Chew, the 4th-place finisher at the 2017 World Championship. This was Chew's third RC Top 8, though his first time breaking into the Top 4.

Splinter Twin also made its first Top 8 appearance in the Regional Championship for the first time since its unbanning this past winter, and Living End made an appearance as well. You can see the decklists for Pro Tour-qualifying players here.

In Mexico City, Javier Castellan took home the trophy and the title of Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean Regional Champion, piloting Grinding Breach.

Last November, he placed 2nd in the previous Central American Regional Championship, returning this year and doing even better. Additionally, it was the Duque's first top finish, and while he wasn't Regional Champion, he'll still have a spot at the Pro Tour.

Congratulations to the Top 4 at the Central America Magic Series as well, all earning invites to the Pro Tour! Dalibor Trnka proved that Boros Energy can still battle it out with the best despite the loss of Amped Raptor, while Daniel Isaias dusted off Titanshift, which hasn't had a favorable spot in the Modern metagame for a number of years but was able to take Isaias to the Pro Tour.

More Grinding Breach, another Orzhov list making the most of Ketramose, and a classic Boros Burn rounded out the Top 8. You can see the decklists for Pro Tour qualifying players here.

It also wasn't the first Top 8 Regional Championship appearance for Lagos, who had finished 3rd, 5th, and 8th in past South American Magic Series events.
