Eternal Weekend Returns in 2024!

July 29, 2024
Wizards of the Coast

Calling all fans of Legacy and Vintage!

Eternal Weekend returns in 2024 with three big weekends of excitement for Eternal format fans everywhere. There will be one stop each in Japan, the United States, and Europe this year, offering fans of Magic's most powerful formats an opportunity to play and celebrate a game with over 30 years of history!

What Are Eternal Weekend Events?

Eternal Weekend fits its namesake: It is a weekend of Magic themed around what are called Eternal formats. These formats focus on the entirety of Magic's card history, with Legacy and Vintage being the prominent formats featured during these weekends.

Legacy Constructed allows players to build a 60-card deck out of nearly any Magic card released since 1993. The format is iconic for being the place where some of Magic's all-star spells—including the famous Brainstorm—are featured.

Vintage Constructed, much like Legacy, allows for 60-card deck construction using all of Magic's cards since 1993. Vintage, however, boasts a Banned & Restricted list that allows decks to run only one copy of some of Magic's most iconic cards, including Black Lotus, as well as other cards in the Power 9.

Both Legacy and Vintage are the focus of Eternal Weekend, and each event will host a Legacy Championship and Vintage Championship where enthusiasts of either or both formats may compete for their share of prizes, as well as the glory of being dubbed the Legacy or Vintage Champion!

Eternal Weekends are multi-day events, and organizers running these events in each region may offer additional events to celebrate over 30 years of Magic. Check with each organizer for specific details of what they may be running.

Championship Prize Promos!

The Legacy Championship sports a sweet new prize promo card for top finishers at Legacy Championships at each Eternal Weekend event in 2024.

The Top 32 finishers will receive a non-foil copy of a retro frame Crop Rotation, featuring new art by Samuele Bandini.

Additionally, the Top 8 finishers at each Legacy Championship in 2024 will also receive a traditional foil copy of the Crop Rotation prize promo!

The Vintage Championship also gets a new prize promo for this year. The Top 32 finishers at Vintage Championships hosted at Eternal Weekends in 2024 will receive a non-foil retro frame Tinker prize promo card featuring new artwork from Jason Rainville.

Additionally, the Top 8 finishers at each Vintage Championship in 2024 get a traditional foil copy of this Tinker prize promo as well.

Please note that unlike previous years, prize paintings will not be awarded to the winners of each Legacy Championship and Vintage Championship. For a full breakdown of prizes for each event, please refer to the organizer pages below for details as the event approaches.
