Over the weekend we received reports of a client error with the September Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend Day Two event where players, after reaching two losses and ending their run, were able to enter the event again and replay another course. This was not intended behavior, and after a detailed investigation we have determined the cause, corrected it for the upcoming October Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend, and identified affected players.
As this was an issue with the event configuration beyond player’s control, we will not be taking disciplinary actions against players who completed a second course as they may not have realized this was unintentional behavior. Additionally, Gem rewards players earned competing in an extra course will not be removed. However, we are taking several steps to ensure tournament integrity for all affected players:
- Players on Day Two that, after reaching 6 wins, took their second loss from a player competing in an unintentional extra course will receive a Special Invitation to the Zendikar Rising Championship. (These invited players are now ineligible to play in future Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekends as per event policy.)
- All players on Day Two that took their second loss from a player competing in an unintentional extra course, but did not earn the necessary wins to warrant a Special Invitation to the Zendikar Rising Championship, will receive direct invitation to Day Two of the October Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend.
- Players that, after playing their first course and reaching 2 losses, played an unintentional extra course in the Day Two event will not receive invitation to the Zendikar Rising Championship for reaching 7 wins, nor receive direct invitation to Day Two of the October Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend for reaching 6 wins. (These players will continue to be qualified to compete in Day One of the October Zendikar Rising Qualifier Weekend for reaching at least 6 wins on Day One in September.)
We are currently notifying all affected players directly by email. If after 24 hours you haven't received communication, please contact Customer Service using this link.
