Weave your own story at an upcoming play event near you, either at your local game store or at one of our many exciting events on the horizon following the release of Wilds of Eldraine!

Prerelease: September 1–7

Friday, September 1, 2023, will be your first chance to dive into the Wilds of Eldraine Prerelease at your local game store!

Prerelease Packs for Wilds of Eldraine contain everything you need for a storybook experience in the new set's Sealed format:

  • 6 Wilds of Eldraine Draft Boosters
  • 1 Foil-stamped rare or mythic rare from the set
  • 1 Spindown life counter
  • 1 Code for Magic: The Gathering Arena (where available)

Prerelease Packs are—like the set's adventurer cards—the best way to take your first adventure into what this return to Eldraine has to offer. You get everything you need to build a 40-card sealed deck and play a format primed for experiencing the new and returning mechanics of Wilds of Eldraine.

Most stores will run their Prerelease as either a traditional Swiss-style tournament—meaning you play in each round, win or lose, for as many rounds as you would like for the duration of the event, with prizes awarded by the organizer at the end of the event. Prereleases tend to have a flat reward structure, meaning that prizes are spread out across finishers so that players all walk away happy. Each store will tailor their rewards differently, so we strongly encourage you to check with your local retailer for all the specifics about the Prerelease nearest to you.

Magic's 30th anniversary promo campaign continues with Wilds of Eldraine, and players may be able to snag one of these spicy promos at a Prerelease event while supplies last:

Hornet Queen (French Promo)

Harvester of Souls (Promo)

Kalonian Hydra (Spanish Promo)

Goblin Rabblemaster (Promo)

Please note that the Hornet Queen promo is only available in French and the Kalonian Hydra promo is only available in Spanish at WPN stores worldwide. All other cards are English globally. Kalonian Hydra is also rarer than the other promos, and your retailer may have special instructions for how it is awarded at your events, so please check with your retailer on the specifics.

And if this is your first Prerelease in a while, here's an important detail... all products tied to Wilds of Eldraine are available for purchase at your local WPN retailer starting on Prerelease! Want the latest Commander decks? What about Collector Boosters? Your local retailer has you covered. Come in and play, then purchase what you'd like and support your local store before you head out!

Open House: September 8–10

Here's a new one! Or a classic if you've been playing for many years.

The goal here is for new players to discover the fun of playing Magic, and this program provides the flexibility to create a fun atmosphere that also helps someone wade into the basics without having to build a deck.

Participants who use a Wizards Account to sign up and play in Open House will receive a retro frame Drown in the Loch promo while supplies last.

Regional Championships are your best shot at qualifying for the Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour, as each region offers multiple invitations to one of Magic's coveted tournament stages. Additionally, Regional Championships also award invitations to the Magic: The Gathering World Championship, with regional champions all receiving invitations to Magic's biggest stage. The United States, Europe, and Japan Regional Championships invite the two finalists to the big event next year.

Participants qualified to compete in these invitation-only events will receive a non-foil Secret Lair prize card, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, featuring art from kelogsloops. Additionally, the top finishers in a Regional Championship will also receive a traditional foil copy of this prize card.
