Magic Hall of Fame member Kai Budde has a competitive career unlike any other. With seven Pro Tour victories—more than any other player in history—and a dominating record of success across more events, Budde earned the moniker "The German Juggernaut" since "Kai doesn't lose on Sundays."

With his accolades (and tournament success) stretching across four decades of play, we celebrate the legacy of Budde's incredible competitive history by naming the Player of the Year trophy in his honor as announced by Director of Play Programs (and fellow Hall of Famer) Billy Jensen at Pro Tour Modern Horizons 3.

The 2023-2024 Player of the Year title will be earned at Magic World Championship 30 later this year, October 25-27 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Kai Budde Player of the Year trophy will be awarded during a ceremony at the first Pro Tour of the 2024-2025 season.
