Kai Budde. Jon Finkel. Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa. Luis Scott-Vargas. These are just a few of the greatest players Magic has ever seen, and the culmination of their long list of achievements is arguably their enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. They, and other greats of the game, have painted the history of Magic's Pro Tour for more than 30 years. But for the past 7 years, the Hall of Fame has been in limbo, and a new generation of great players has yet to be honored. Today, we're taking the first steps toward honoring more of these outstanding players by announcing the return of the Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame.

Selection and voting for the next class of Hall of Fame members is currently underway, and we'll be announcing the results ahead of the induction ceremony at MagicCon: Atlanta in November. For now, we'd like to share some of the details about what's new, what's the same, and what's so exciting about the Hall of Fame's return.

What Is the Hall of Fame?

Induction to the Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame, or simply the Hall of Fame, is a special honor given to a selection of Magic's most influential and skilled players. These players represent the pinnacle of competitive play and have earned their spot in the history books of Magic. The Hall of Fame consists of an online museum dedicated to the Hall of Fame members and the Hall of Fame exhibit, which is displayed at select Magic events.

Each Hall of Fame member receives an invitation to one Pro Tour of their choice per season. Each member also receives a special Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame ring to honor their achievement.

How Are Players Selected for the Hall of Fame?

With the return of the Hall of Fame, we're slightly adjusting our process of nominating and inducting new members. This process will generally look the same as it has in the past, just with a few behind-the-scenes changes.

Who Selects Players for the Hall of Fame?

The Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame Selection Committee consists of forty (40) members from across the Magic community. These members are hand-selected by Wizards of the Coast and meet some subset of the following criteria:

• Selected current Hall of Fame members
• Longtime reporters and commentators of the Pro Tour
• Key Wizards of the Coast employees with first-hand Pro Tour experience
• Selected active players

As of July 19, 2026, these are the forty (40) members of the Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

Who Is Eligible for the Hall of Fame?

New players will be voted into the Hall of Fame on a biennial basis, with a new class joining in 2026 and another class joining in 2028. To have their name on the 2026 Hall of Fame ballot, a player must meet the following requirements:

• The player must have five (5) "Top Finishes" as of July 20, 2026. Top Finishes include the following finishes:
  • World Championship Top 8 (1994–2011; 2023–Present)
  • World Championship Top 4 (2012–2022)
  • Pro Tour Top 8 (1996–Present)
  • Team Pro Tour Top 4 (1999–Present)
  • Tabletop Mythic Championship Top 8 (2019)
  • Digital Mythic Championship Top 4 (2019)
  • Digital Mythic Invitational Top 4 (Boston, 2019)
  • Players Tour Top 8 (2020)
  • Digital Players Tour Finals Top 8 (2020)
  • Set Championship Top 8 (2020–2022)
  • Digital Mythic Invitational Top 8 (MTG Arena, 2020)
  • Grand Finals Top 8 (2020)
  • Arena Championship Top 8 (2022–Present)
  • Magic Online Championship Top 4 (2009–2020)
  • Magic Online Showcase Winner (2020–Present)
• For 2026 voting, the player's five (5) Top Finishes must include:
  • At least one (1) Top Finish that occurred from 1994–2019
  • At least one (1) Top Finish that occurred from 2020–2026
• The player must be in good standing with Wizards of the Coast (e.g., not suspended or under investigation).

To have their name on the 2028 Hall of Fame ballot, a player must meet the following requirements:

• The player must have five (5) Top Finishes as of the end of the last event before 2028 Hall of Fame ballots are issued.
• The player must have received their first Top Finish at least eight (8) seasons prior to the 2027–2028 season.

How Does the Hall of Fame Voting Process Work?

Members of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee will receive a ballot with all players eligible for the Hall of Fame under that year's requirements. From that ballot, each Selection Committee member will select a maximum of four (4) players.

The following rules apply to members of the Selection Committee:

• Selection Committee members are required to avoid politics, unseemly behavior, or any other action that could harm the integrity of the voting process, as determined by Wizards of the Coast in its sole discretion. When in doubt, members are asked to think of their ballot as if it were the only one that counted.
• Selection Committee members are forbidden from selling or trading their votes.

While the total results of the voting will be made public, the votes of individual members of the Selection Committee will not be made public by Wizards of the Coast. When voting, members of the Selection Committee shall use the following as the basis for their selections:

• Players' performances
• Playing ability
• Integrity
• Sportsmanship
• Contributions to the game in general

Players who appear on at least 60% of the returned ballots will become members of the Magic Pro Tour Hall of Fame. If no player appears on at least 60% of the weighted ballots, the player with the most votes will become a member. For 2026, newly elected members will officially be inducted in a ceremony held at Magic World Championship 32 in Atlanta, Georgia.
