What Is the Spotlight Series?
Magic Spotlight Series events are open to all players, letting anyone play high-level Magic, win awesome prizes, and gather to see who has the skill to claim Magic greatness. Centered around an open-field tournament, these two-day events offer cash prizes, promo cards, and even invitations to the Pro Tour.
If you don't make it to the end of the main event, then no worries. You can still enjoy all the vendors, side events, special guests, and many more exciting aspects of this tournament series.
What Can I Win?
Each Magic Spotlight: Star Trek main event features a $50,000 prize pool. Each competitor will receive an extended-art, non-foil Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary promo card featuring artwork by Alexander Mokhov. The Top 128 players at each event will also receive traditional foil copies of this promo card. This card depicts a thoughtful Jean-Luc Picard among some of his most notable mementos, lost in the joy of study.
In addition, the Top 8 players in each main event will receive invitations to the Pro Tour taking place at MagicCon: Tokyo on May 14–16, 2027. The winner of each event will also receive a stunning Black Lotus-themed trophy with the set symbol for Magic: The Gathering® | Star Trek™. A fitting prize for any explorer of the cosmos.
The Spotlight Series and CommandFests
Starting in 2027, each Magic Spotlight Series event will begin offering a CommandFest for fans of Commander. Players who sign up for full weekend CommandFest packages will also receive the Magic Spotlight Series main event promo card in non-foil. For Commander players who are looking for a good starting point in a competitive Magic event, the Spotlight Series two-day main event offers an approachable way to participate with the same promo card available to main event participants and a format focused around building a deck out of cards from sealed boosters. The expansion of the Magic Spotlight Series stops to include CommandFest gives all fans of Magic even more options during the weekend.
More details on 2027's Magic Spotlight Series and CommandFest events will be available later, so stay tuned for more info.
