In order to ensure the stability of the MPL Gauntlet and Rivals Gauntlet, we will be postponing the start of the event by one day, beginning our broadcast instead on Friday, September 3.
Updated Broadcast Dates and Schedule
The updated broadcast schedule will be as follows:
- 9 a.m. PDT Friday, September 3: 9 rounds of play for both the MPL and Rivals Gauntlets
- 9 a.m. PDT Saturday, September 4: 3 rounds of MPL Gauntlet play, followed by the Top 8 playoff
- 9 a.m. PDT Sunday, September 5: 3 Rounds of Rivals Gauntlet play, followed by the Top 8 playoff
Updated Tournament Dates and Schedule
Competitors will begin play one hour earlier on Friday, to better fit play schedule across time zones, and follow a modified schedule over three days. The updated tournament schedule is as follows:
No Play on Thursday, September 2
Day 1 – Friday, September 3
- Round 1 starts at 8 a.m.
- 9 Swiss Rounds
- Pairing control will be reset following Round 6
- Competitors can play an opponent once in Rounds 1-6, then again in Rounds 7-12
- Players will be removed from the event once they get their 7th loss
Day 2 – Saturday, September 4 – MPL Gauntlet
- Round 10 starts at 9 a.m.
- 3 Swiss Rounds
- Players who reach 9 wins will be given byes in remaining Swiss rounds, advancing directly to the Top 8 playoff
- Players will be removed from the event once they get their 7th loss
- Tiebreaker round (if necessary)
- Top 8 playoff
Day 3 – Sunday, September 5 – Rivals Gauntlet
- Round 10 starts at 9 a.m.
- 3 Swiss Rounds
