As the road to Magic World Championship XXVII continues next with the Challenger Gauntlet, taking place August 6–8, we continue to look ahead to the pinnacle of Magic competition for the year—and beyond.
Magic World Championship XXVII Formats
With $250,000 in prizes and additional appearance fees—plus the winner having their likeness featured on a future Magic: The Gathering card—on the line at the World Championship, it's already an incredible event you won't want to miss. Today, we're announcing the formats for the World Championship and the first Championship event of the 2021-22 season.
Taking place October 8–10, Magic World Championship XXVII features two formats. Day One kicks off with three rounds of Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Draft, showcasing the latest Magic release and the skill-testing nature of Draft competition between elite players.
Then, players move to post-rotation Standard: two rounds on Friday and five more on Saturday. Every player is in the hunt both days as they battle to earn seven wins and advance to the Sunday Top 4 double-elimination playoff with Standard.
Announcing the Innistrad Championship
With the Strixhaven Championship behind us, players eager to battle the best in the world continue to ahead to Qualifier Weekends for the first Championship of the 2021-22 season: the Innistrad Championship, taking place December 3–5, 2021.
With a $450,000 prize pool, players will battle across Standard and Historic featuring both of this year's Magic sets showing off the plane of Innistrad: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow.
